The history of gold jewellery dates back to ancient times, when kings and emperors utilized golden pieces to show their place in society and their wealth. They also sported gold in numerous ways. Today, gold jewellery can make anyone feel like a king or a Queen. One of the main reasons is that gold has a long life. Also, gold alloys can include vibrant colours such as pink, green, red, purple, and blue! Finally, gold is perfect for jewellery, as it is soft; and will not stain, rust or corrode.
When shopping online for gold jewellery, choosing a product is relatively the easy from our large range. There are gold rings, necklaces, chains, earrings, bracelets, pendants, and a host of other products. The jewellery that you choose is typically related to a particular event or occasion. Perhaps you need a pair of gold earrings for an upcoming wedding, or you want a gold necklace for formal dinners and business meeting. The next step is to determine how many carats you want your jewellery to have. While the number of carats in gold jewellery can range from 1 to 24, you should certainly consider 9ct gold jewellery.
Another feature of gold jewellery is its variety of carats. A carat, which can be abbreviated as K or ct, reveals the purity of various metals, including gold. By weight, one karat is equivalent to 1/24 purity. Thus, 24-carat gold is pure gold, while 9ct gold is 37.5% gold by weight. Today, the millesimal fineness system also reveals the purity of precious metals, including gold. According to this scale, 9ct gold jewellery has a millesimal fineness of 375. This number is often found on genuine 9ct gold jewellery as a mark of authenticity.
Why buy 9ct gold jewellery? The main benefit of 9ct gold jewellery in particular, is price. While it has less gold than base metal, it is significantly less expensive than jewellery with more gold, such as 18ct gold. This allows you to enjoy the craftsmanship of gold earrings and gold a gold necklace, without exceed\ding your budget.

18k Gold Jewelry
Originating from the Old-English term “geolo,” meaning yellow, gold has become one of the Earth’s most precious metals. It is located in seas, rivers, the Earth’s crust; and even animals and plants! In ancient times, gold was used to create religious items for religious services. Later, various gold coins were produced. Today, South Africa is the biggest gold producer. To obtain one ounce of gold, about three tons of ore are required! As a result, gold’s rarity and sought-after features have made fine gold jewellery, such as 18k gold jewellery, the most popular metal in today’s jewellery. Gold is a deep-yellow element that is one of the metals on Earth. However, for practical purposes, pure gold is simply too soft to be used as jewellery. Thus, gold is typically mixed with one or more other metals, such as copper to produce an alloy. This balances the value of the 18k gold jewellery’s (jewelry) look, resistance to stains, and durability.
However, what is the “k” in 18k gold jewellery (jewelry) ? The traditional way of indicating gold’s purity, is by the carat unit (k or ct.) also known as hallmarking. Thus, 24k represents almost (99.99%) pure gold, 9k indicates 37.5 % gold content. Fine jewellery (jewelry) usually made from into 18k gold jewellery is 75%, or ¾ gold. Recently, the purity of gold alloys has been indicated millesimally, or in parts for each thousand. Thus, 18k gold jewellery is equivalent to 750 parts per thousand. In many respects, 18k gold jewellery is the finest on the market. Because 9k , 10k and 14k gold contain more base metal than gold, they stain easily. Consequently, your clothing and skin could become stained as well. These gold alloys are also significantly harder and subsequently more brittle than 18k gold jewellery. While 24k gold offers buyers a fantastic colour, it can be too soft for most jewellery and tends to scratch and mark very easily.
Aside from its purity, colour is another feature of gold and 18k gold jewellery. When we think of gold jewellery, an image of yellow coloured jewellery comes to mind . However, when particular metals are added with gold to form 18k gold jewellery, and array of colours, such as yellow, blue, pink, purple green, and red can be created. The most common that is used in jewellery white gold, which is an alloy that consist of nickel, zinc or palladium Besides its variety of possible colours, 18k gold jewellery (jewelry) has several other features:
It is so flexible that after hammering it enough, it almost becomes clear! Gold never stains, rusts, or erodes. In fact, gold jewellery discovered in ancient tombs in Egypt, were in perfect condition! Gold, such as 18k gold jewellery, conducts heat and electricity Gold is one of the softest metals on Earth. According to the Mohs scale of hardness, its value is 2-2.5. On the other hand, diamonds’ value is a perfect 10! Gold’s melting point is 1063 degrees Celsius, which is nearly 2000 degree Fahrenheit!
When various chemicals make contact with 18k gold jewellery, the results can be cracking, fragility, fading of colour, and breaking. To clean your 18k gold jewellery (jewelry) , only use a jewellery cleaner and avoid harsh household cleaners. When shopping for jewellery, consider 18k gold jewellery (jewelry) . Attractive, sturdy, and blemish-resistant, it offers the best features of the gold metal and this can be an investment for the future.

Gold - Its History
Gold is the oldest precious metal known in human history. It is difficult to pinpoint the earliest use of gold but archaeological evidence suggests that gold was first found in Spanish caves used by Paleolithic Man some 40,000 years ago. The earliest gold jewellery or jewelry dates back 6000 year ago to the Sumerian people who reside in now what is known as Iraq. The commercial use of gold dates back to the Ancient Egyptians who were the largest producer of gold at the time. The goldsmiths at the time through their exquisite craftsmanship created some of the most stunning artifact and earliest of gold jewellery pieces. In the tomb of King who died in 1350 B.C, amongst the treasures of history were jewellery such as gold thrones, gold bracelets, gold anklets, gold rings and gold charms. The most amazing aspect of such riches was the coffin of the Boy King that was also made of Gold. The use of Gold as an economic medium goes far back as 2000 years ago where the first coins were produced in the Kingdom Lydia (part of Modern turkey) between 643 to 630 BC. These coins were made of natural occurring alloy of gold, 75 % Gold and 25% Silver. The Kings royal stamp guaranteed the weight and purity of the coins, today this is called a Hallmark. Around this time frame both India and China began to circulate gold coins in their economies and this helped seal the image of gold as being one of the most valuable substances in the world. Today gold is still considered important in many countries’ economies even though its used as a standard for the worlds monetary system in which the standard economic unit of account is a fixed weight of gold and all currency issuance is to one degree or another regulated by the supply of gold. The value of gold resulted in a massive effort of gold mining and led to the frenzy of the gold rushes. During the 19th and 20th century these gold rushes transformed places like California in the USA, the Victorian Goldfields of Australia and Canada. Gold in modern times has many uses, the most obvious use of gold is in the manufacture of jewellery. Other uses include its uses in biomedical, pollution control, mobile phones, airbags, laptops and space technology. It is estimated 12 % of gold is used in industrial applications.

The Story of Boutique Jewellery - An Idea
Boutique Jewellery and Gifts grew out of an idea on a whiteboard. In November 2005 the idea that sat on my small whiteboard in my garage of our 2 bedroom unit began to evolve. We set up our computer a desk and a couple of old shelves in our garage which became the headquarters of our baby empire.
My wife Helen and I were looking for a source of income to supplement our jobs. Helen had worked for the Commonwealth Bank for years and was retrenched. Me, the hubby worked nights as a limo driver, it is not glamorous as it sounds. I mainly serviced the corporate world, and yes I did have a few celebrities, like the fastest man in a red car called Ferrari, Mr. Schumarcher. I have been in the limousine industry for far too long. I had actually ran my own limousines, but the long hours were not good for a young married couple. The good thing though was that I learnt the concept of running a small business very quickly especially the most important idea of customer service.
Yes, customers can be very difficult, especially those in power and position who lead a go, go, lifestyle. Customer service is the paramount for customer service. In our next blog I will writing about the importance of customer service and how the idea of www.boutiquejewellery.com.au sprouted from the confines of a small garage.
