The Story of Boutique Jewellery - An Idea 2

The idea of setting up a jewellery or jewelry store online did not just drop into my head. I began to brainstorm of my abilities and capabilities. I used to be a an industrial chemist in the jewellery industry. So the first idea on the white board was -Chemist Jewellery- contact with my old company. This idea sat on the whiteboard for a while. I thought, mmmmm limousine driver, yes I am great with customers, so I added customer service to the white board. Regardless of what you do in business, it is the customer at the end of the day who will place their hand into their pocket and pull out a cheque book from their bank or a credit card like Visa MasterCard or if Apart from the smile and the pride you take in presenting your product or service to the customer, there are a few important skills a budding millionaire or business person must have.

1. You must be perceptive to the personality of the customer
2. Sensitive to the customer
3. And Yes the customer is always right even if they are very wrong.
4. You must be self critical on each and every sale and dealings with the customer.
5. Personalise your approach introduce yourself and therefore ask for their name.
5. Use their name
6. Ask questions of the customer this shows you are not just trying to close a sale but you are interested in them and their needs.
7. If they do not buy, do not take it personally business is business, who knows they might come back one day.

Until next time.........

The Story of Boutique Jewellery - An Idea

Boutique Jewellery and Gifts grew out of an idea on a whiteboard. In November 2005 the idea that sat on my small whiteboard in my garage of our 2 bedroom unit began to evolve. We set up our computer a desk and a couple of old shelves in our garage which became the headquarters of our baby empire.

My wife Helen and I were looking for a source of income to supplement our jobs. Helen had worked for the Commonwealth Bank for years and was retrenched. Me, the hubby worked nights as a limo driver, it is not glamorous as it sounds. I mainly serviced the corporate world, and yes I did have a few celebrities, like the fastest man in a red car called Ferrari, Mr. Schumarcher. I have been in the limousine industry for far too long. I had actually ran my own limousines, but the long hours were not good for a young married couple. The good thing though was that I learnt the concept of running a small business very quickly especially the most important idea of customer service.

Yes, customers can be very difficult, especially those in power and position who lead a go, go, lifestyle. Customer service is the paramount for customer service. In our next blog I will writing about the importance of customer service and how the idea of www.boutiquejewellery.com.au sprouted from the confines of a small garage.
